Description
THE HISTORY OF PORTUGUESE DESIGN MIRRORED IN DACIANO DA COSTA’S VISION FOR THE EQUIPMENT AND FURNITURE OF THE CCB.
Different subjects that had long been present in the career of Daciano da Costa gained particular visibility in the Centro Cultural de Belém (CCB) project. But the CCB was also a turning point, an opportunity to lay the foundations of a new stage in his creative career.
For the history of Portuguese design, the importance of the CCB is that it brings together an unparalleled number of works by a renowned author, the result of which reflects a particular stage in our contemporary history. The work and its author mutually reinforce each other: they underline the symbolic role of the building, the collective relevance of its construction and the cultural role of its design in defining the shapes of an era.
