Description
DESIGN AND MAL-ESTAR, launched in 1998 by the Portuguese Design Center and now in a revised and expanded edition, gathers press texts, interviews, essays and speeches by Daciano da Costa between 1970 and 2004. This collection reveals the critical and rigorous thought of the object designer, who was able to diagnose the “mal-estar” of each period, in its slow or precipitated social and cultural evolution. A scrutinizer of a certain silent culture, outside the official circuits, Daciano da Costa made drawing his mode of intervention, always with a keen sense of service and militancy, and reflects in these pages, in an unassuming manner, on what he saw in the world and “that he decided to consider design problems.
